Free entry to the 89th ADC Awards

The Art Directors Club are giving Logo Design Love readers 10 free entries to the 89th ADC Awards. That’s up to $3,000 worth, depending on your entry category. Read on for more info about the awards and for details on how to enter the draw.
About the ADC Awards
ADC is a self-funded, not-for-profit global member organization for a broad range of creatives around the world.
Every year since 1920, the ADC Annual Awards competition identifies and honours the best work of the year in visual communications. ADC’s first call for entries included just three categories: black and white illustration and design, paintings and drawings in color, and posters of all sizes. Today, the number of categories totals 238, spanning all areas in print and broadcast advertising, interactive media, graphic design, publication design, packaging, photography and illustration.
Of most interest to you will likely be the categories for “corporate identity programmes” and “logos or trademarks.”
Winners are presented at a special evening in New York City in April. The event includes a reception, multimedia awards presentation and party. The winners are also documented in the Art Directors Annual and their works displayed at the exhibition. Higher award winners are also included in ADC exhibitions that travel throughout North America, Europe, Asia and South America.
Here’s one of my favourite past winners: logo for Office Games 2008 by The Partners.

Now’s your chance to win a Cube in the 89th annual ADC Awards.

Update: Tuesday 19th February
Thanks very much for everyone’s votes.
I’ve drawn five random winners from the comments here, and five from the many RTs that appeared on Twitter. Here are those 10 names (I’ll email the commentators and @reply the tweeters).
Ahmed Waheib
Kathryn Davenel
Joseph Gaston
Gabriel Escobar
Ariana Palacios Newham
@markantoin
@KathrynforAD
@heyro
@mlaksman
@pennylnbd
—
Individual entry costs are between $150 for singles, $200 for campaigns, and $300 for branding series. The ADC deadline for entries in the design category is Friday 22nd January — just one week away.
There are two ways to stand a chance of winning one of 10 free entries to the 89th ADC Awards.
- Simply browse last year’s winners and choose one that catches your eye. It doesn’t matter what category you browse, but include a link to the page in a comment on this post. It’d be good to see what appeals to you.
- Tweet this — RT @LogoDesignLove Free entry to the 89th ADC Awards: http://bit.ly/8YO2ZM
10 free entry winners (drawn randomly from commentators and “tweeters”) will be selected on Tuesday 19th and notified by email. I’ll also update this page with the winning names.
The only stipulation is that free entries can’t be used for the ADC Design Sphere or ADC Hybrid Award. These specialty awards cost $500 per entry, and it’s deemed unfair to the competition to have someone win that category who didn’t pay for entry.
Good luck.

I love this concept of the mannequins displaying human emotions, like they’re afraid of the limelight, or perhaps just tired of it. This coupled with the nice, clean typography is just stunning to me.

Not branding but this advert for Shelter is both well observed, creative in the proper sense and powerful:

Eye-catching installation. Gets both the message across and people thinking. Thumbs up!

Does a free post include also the exorbitant mounting and exhibition and to be included in the ADC book fees? Probably not, so we pass.

Simply the best design of last year. Coca cola showed what simplicity and confidence can look like for the worlds biggest brand. Every designer wanted to do this fro Coke, but somehow Turner Duckworth managed to make it happen. Perfectly designed.

Simply great eco idea! Visually beautiful, conceptually smart, financially effective, and most importantly environmentally thoughtful!

Unfair if someone wins in a category he hasent payed for? Isnt it more unfair if someone DOESN’T win in a cattegory because he hasn’t payed for it even though the quality of his work would allow that?
nevertheless, I like this one a lot!

when my father comments on the “layout and creativity” of the nikeid website and the simplicity of it.- you know it is a hit- even the older generations get it.

I love this. It works on so many levels — it is a campaignable idea, it showcases the product, and it is beautifully shot in a minimalist way. The typography hasn’t been looked over either — it suggests ‘pleats’ in such a chic and playful way. Oh, and it also conveys Issey Miyake’s Japanese heritage. Amazing!
