I really love a lot of these. Panda, Banana Films, Talkmore, George Jackson — all top quality logos. But my favorite, I think, has to be the Castle Print one. It’s so nice looking, and really clever too.

The Bananas Films design first caught my eye some time ago. I even mentioned it on my other blog.
Miles,
Nice choice of favourite. Castle Print gets my vote too. I wonder if it’s entered into the awards.

The banana films is great, but the chilli dog logo is my fav.

Banana Films I’ve liked since I saw it on your other blog. The Panda Com is clever but the ear kind of floats off out on its own a bit. The Bistro one is nice but I say that because I had the exact same idea a while ago. I don’t think I subconsciously got it from Bistro (or at least I hope not) and mine never went further than an idea in my mind.

I love them! They’re so contextual, very clever.

Nice. Logos I like.
For me, I prefer Bananas Films and chillidog for the humour. Then Williamson Pottery and Finale for what isn’t there.
Bananas Films would get my top vote.

David,
These are very impressive. I love how Fogra took a motif that I would have said was very tired (every printer has a variant, yawn) and did something special with it for Castle Print.
Panda’s type treatment is perfect with the ear. George Jackson is just smooth.
Hayes’ Williamson Pottery captures the mood, the elegance, and the transformation of a potter’s work. So nice.
Judging the LogoPond Awards looks to be a tough job—have fun!

Kelly

I go pessimistic this time, I just say what is wrong for me:
Bistro has too much details, looks a like traced photo – the colours are cool tough.
Finale is neat, but hard to read at first blick.
GJ -I know it’s G and J but it’s too direct, my brain builds up a G behind a white square, J is not there at first sight.
So my favourite is the pottery thing. I like how the designer used the negative spaces of the hand to give the siluette of the vase. It is very fluid and .. hm somehow naive and pure.

Hardly anyone remembers what and who they were for. All good artistiscally but not memorable.
If you dont needa “logo” then try branding instead. Sorry but why do punters need a logo?
The brand name George Jackson I recall with ease the others- well.
Just while I’m ranting, its “an” RSS feed not “a”.
Sometimes our artistic ego gets in the way of objectivity.
Thanks for the article though. The Baldchemist

Castle Print: The concept is nice, but nothing special.
Dache: I would have thought the same as the aforementioned Castle Print, but the fact that he is Swiss makes me give me a few cool points for the cross… even though he should know by now that crosses are usually reserved for health insurance companies ;)
Panda: this has the cutest sad panda if you look hard enough at the P and the A. But a quick reference look leaves me nothing. This would be better for some marijuana rolling papers.
Bananas Films: Genius.
My Pink City: This is fun, but nothing more.
Talkmore: More Genius.
Geore Jackson: this would depend on what this line is. Clothing? Genius. Kids toys? Retaurded.
Williamson Pottery: Just because I think this is a local and small budget thing, I truly would hold this underdog above every other logo here. Its smart, its sexy, its demonic. Its great!!
Bistro: Typical and boring.
Crypto Link: Typical and boring.
Chilidog: this is funny. In Chile, where I am from, we say that when something is REALLY spicy it burns twice. Once coming in, and once coming out. This Chilidog is REALLY spicy. Looks likes a logo for a bunch of rich kids with cameras.
Finale: Boring.

Glad you like.
Valentino,
Thanks again for following both my blogs. I really appreciate it. Would’ve been great to see your own take on the Bistro idea.
Cat,
Logos with a clever use of negative space always appeal to me, which is one reason for the pottery and finale inclusions. Nice to know your favs.
Kelly,
I’m very much looking forward to judging the awards, and it’ll be great if some others of similar standard are uncovered. Thanks for your thoughts.
LB,
What do you think is naive about the Williamson Pottery logo?
Baldchemist,
Why do ‘punters’ need a logo? For identification. I notice you have a logo on your website. Have you considered removing it?
Cenzi,
You’re a tough one to please, though everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.
Roberta, Chris,
Thanks very much for dropping by again.

Hi David,
by naive I ment ie the simple shape of the hands forming the pot. They are finished with a flame-like line, a bit like “I put here some design thingy now”. I wanted to use naive her as i used pure. Naturel, not overdone.

The George Jackson logo is my favorite because it plays into my style of logo design. Font driven with a clever play on the letter forms. TalkMore and Finale’ fall under that same syle, but TalkMore is not a font style I am into and Finale is almost too austere.
I also really liked Banana Films. Simple logos are often the best. Saying a lot with simple, uncomplicated graphics and fonts. Banana Films falls into this category very well. Castle Print and ChiliDog fall into this category, as well. I’m just over the CMY color palette for print logos. ChiliDog reminds me of the Sirius Satellite Radio logo.
Lastly I loved Williamson Pottery. Love the use of negative space. Again simple but saying a lot and very elegant.
They are all VERY good. My Pink City’s name is cooler than the logo I’m afraid. Crypto Link is perfect, I’m just not a fan of that style of graphic logo. A bit too old fashioned I guess. Older than industrial which is why I’m not a fan of dache either. European industrial I find artistic but not beautiful. But then you aren’t supposed to. Lastly Panda’s name and the industry the logo represents don’t work well together in my opinion.

You picked out some of my favorite designers and individual logos! I really love David Pache’s portfolio (I go there for inspiration whenever I have to design a logo). Banana Films is great!!
Too bad you’re a judge and can’t participate. Of course, I’m sure the other logo designers are happy about that so they might actually have a chance to win! :P

I adore the Panda logo, I think I probably blogged it at some point. I hadn’t seen the Castle Print one until now, and I’m torn between those two. Simple + Clever + Memorable = Winner.

Some of those are excellent.
The banana films is great and the chilli dog? What a laugh. I also like the Bistro logo which is cleaver with the ‘invisible’ glass, nice effect.

Talkmore is great, although that’s the same idea behind the old Vodafone wordmark. I also like Panda and CastlePrint, not sure if a unified color of the wordmark would work better.

Love them all, they’re just great, my fav is talkmore.
But the most print cost effective i think chillidog, because it only has 1 color. And b/w usually is always classy.

Excellent work. My top vote goes for the Panda Communications’ logo. It best represents the old adage,’Less is More’.
Keep it up. We want to see more!

I’ve just seen the delay in response to your kind comments. I must’ve forgotten to return and say thanks, so, thank you for all your thoughts, and I hope you find the next batch of LogoPond designs equally worthwhile.

I vote for Talkmore and BananasFilms.
My suggestion for improving on Chillidog would be to portray a howling dog with the flames shooting up from his mouth.

Hello David. Well yes we have removed our logo. No one remembered our bird bu, and I hope it continues, the name is remembered.
Sometimes a name is enough. One shouldn’t automatically believe a logo is needed.
Thanks for all your fabulous articles by the way. I wish you a very wondeful year, no life . Take good care. Ray Leigh . The Baldchemist
