Deichmanske Library identity
I was browsing the branding archives on Shelby White’s Wanken and found this identity for Deichmanske Library.

“The identity focuses on the many sides of the institution by building a brand that constantly evolves rather than being static, just as the library itself is supposed to.”
— MIKAEL FLØYSAND

It was designed by Mikael Fløysand as a final exam while at Westerdals School of Communication in Norway.
Great work.
More images and applications here in Mikael’s portfolio, and you’ll find him on Twitter, too.

As a student myself, I am very impressed by this project. . . really nice.
Reminds me of the new MIT logo covered by Fastco recently :

I think the MIT one is great because of the vast customisation. . .each employee can have their own logo focused around the same logo ‘brand’, thats got to be a good thing right?

That’s a very clean and cohesive design, nicely executed “fluid” identity too, another example of a growing trend in fluid identity designs. =]

A gorgeous project, well done Mikael! The budget would have been huge for those various shaped business cards!!

@Fred I was thinking the same thing… The concept is similar to the new MIT logo.

Well executed design program. Definitely seeing the influence of the Melbourne identity from last year, merged w/ the modularity of the new MIT id. I like how the shifting mark is also a malleable grid system.
Nice work!

Oooo I like this – pretty and unusual, and professional, without being boring.
Amazing version of it on the bag, it’s so versatile!
