“Man at Kiosk”
Disregarding the “you should’ve known better” reflection applied to the website version, I do like the idea behind this logo for Kiosk.

The logo was really nice then… I visited the website. Killed it. I like the version you feature here though. I love the typography and the symbol is very clever.

Other than the painfully obvious flaws, why?
The “k” reminds me of the treatment of the “k” in the Netkey logo before it was acquired by NCR. Netkey is kiosk interface software.

What makes it work for me is the identical space between the icon elements and the legs of the both Ks. However, that same space makes reading the name more difficult which can be both good and bad. Looking twice to comprehend the logo makes it stick better, but looking once and not understanding it nor trying any further is a minus.

I read “iK”. Maybe the verical line could be bigger.

Love the idea. Not sure about the colour scheme.

I must be missing something with this one. Is there some symbolisation that just isn’t apparent to me, as above looks like an “iK” in a green circle. Wouldn’t normally comment as to me its ok but I’m sure I’ve missed something for it to have been featured on this blog.

Initially, I also read the mark as an i/K monogram. I think a general audience would also read that as an i/K at initial glance which seems a bit confusing. However, knowing that it’s a figure standing at a kiosk is a clever concept. It’s a shame the website added a cheesy reflection to the logo. As Tim Smith mentioned, the version featured here is much better.

I might’ve executed it a little differently, to see if I could improve the legibility issues you mention. All the same, nice idea.
Colin, the symbol shows a “man at kiosk.”

The web site definitely needs to be redone. It seems dated, which makes the logo seem dated.

Thanks for pointing out what i’d clearly missed. I’m generally very good at spotting the not so obvious that most people miss, but in this case even now i know (having had to be told) it still dosnt jump out at me. I dont have any issue with the font or legibility which i quite like, to me however the “IK” has fallen short of the mark. All credit to the designer however as the idea is a good one. Not suggesting for a minute that i could have done better, just an amateur logo admirer and long time reader of this blog.
Also agree with everybodies comments on the refected version.

The person at a kiosk play would work better if the i were taller — to me (who used to do the UI stuff for kiosks), it looks like the person would have to enter data or selections with his/her nose. So it just looks silly to me, though I like the concept behind it. Also, the kerning for “KIOSK” looks bad. And “Information Systems” part is jarring, doesn’t really fit.

Spot on, in my opinion.

I agree with Lee, the i needs to be taller. I totally read it as ik, then I was thinking is the name of the company Information Kiosk? The logo and type is good, but like lee the “information systems” put me off.

took me a while to see it, even with the article name…

I agree with many other comments here.
The “i” shaped “K” does bring a little bit of unnecessary confusion which isn’t a good idea for a logo.

It’s a nice idea. As said, needs tweaking. But for goodness sakes everyone, lets celebrate an actual IDEA!

smart idea. But i would tweak the symbol slightly:
making the “man” taller and connect his head to the body so it doesnt read as iK, just give a hint that its a man with a head as opposed to 2 combined letters…
my two cents.
