LogoLounge 5 deadline 30 June 2008

The LogoLounge 5 book is around the corner. If you want your own logo designs considered for inclusion, there are just 5 days remaining before the June 30th submission deadline.
The LogoLounge book series has proved very popular, and with approximately 18 months between publications, the deadline is one I thought you’d like to know about.
Submission timeframe
All logos that are submitted to LogoLounge.com between April 1st, 2007 and June 30th, 2008 will be judged for the publication of LogoLounge Book 5, to be published by Rockport Publications. Judging for this book is not limited to work produced during the above dates, providing it is submitted within the set timeframe.
More details on the LogoLounge website.
To submit your logo designs for entry, you must sign-up for an annual subscription and upload your design(s) in the required size. Subscribing costs US$100 (approximately £50), and with it, you can search the LogoLounge database of over 80,000 logos, categorised by keywords (colour, typestyle, shape, form, subject, industry etc.).
I’ve been a LogoLounge member for a few weeks now, and it’s proving a useful source of inspiration. At the time of writing I’ve uploaded 20 of my own designs to the site. Therefore, I’ve submitted 20 logos for the book judges to review. Fingers crossed.
Previous LogoLounge books can be purchased on Amazon through the following links:

Are you, or have you been a LogoLounge member? If so, I’d like to know your thoughts about the resource.

I’ve danced around being a LogoLounge member for a long time, but I’ve never been able to reconcile the cost. A $100.00 is a lot of money for a family who lives check to check. Buying milk for the baby, paying rent, paying the car payment and paying the phone/utility bills are always first priority. If there is money left over, which there very seldom ever is, it is earmarked for past debts and essentials we’ve been putting off for the house and ourselves (I can’t reconcile even the cost of a bra).
So I visit LogoLounge and read up on the trends but put off the membership yet again.

Yeah. $100 is a bit steep. As much as I’d like to enter, can’t justify the cost.

Trish, Edward,
I fully understand the cost prohibiting entry. I’m planning a more detailed review of the site in the near future which will either confirm your reluctance or possibly persuade you otherwise. I want to give it a little more time before writing my own opinion. Thanks for commenting.

For a logo designer, the Logo Lounge entry is not something to be missed. I uploaded some of my works from http://www.ReLogoDesign.com and I encourage you to do the same… :)

Zoltan, your work is gorgeous; although, some of your logos have a whole lot going on. Best of luck to you and to David with your entries!

If you don’t like the idea of paying $100 a year just to show off your logos, consider the fine logopond site:
http://logopond.com/
which also happens to be having a June 30 deadline for design submissions (it’s free to post logos to the site, the design contest is a separate paid submission):
http://logopondawards.com/
Not affiliated in any way other than I’ve enjoyed the site as a real (and FREE) alternative to the logolounge concept.
But no dead tree version yet. ;o)

Doug,
They’re a nice collection of books, no doubt, so it’d be a pleasure to have a logo included.
Zoltan,
Best of luck with your uploads. Do let me know if you get the nod.
Darrel,
LogoPond is a nice site, I agree, and I’ve just featured 10 LogoPond logos that recently caught my eye.

$100 is a bit steep, but it is more of a principal thing for me than a money thing. I guess it is just that new internet philosophy. Things should be free. Why foster any sort of hesitance toward the action (submit) that increases your logo base? The organization can acquire income from other outlets.
My 2 cents.

Your two cents are appreciated, Peter. It’d certainly be of interest to know more about the LogoLounge business. I emailed Bill Gardner (who I believe is the co-founder along with Catherine Fishel) a week or so back, and am awaiting a reply.

Cmon $100 is not alot, you should be able to make triple that off of one logo design.

lol.. just triple?
you should make at least 300x that….don’t sell yourself short.
Plus, you get the glory of being published.
(I have the distinct honor to have Logos in Book 4)
