Unlogo

Unlogo Intro from Jeff Crouse.

“Introduction to my current project, Unlogo. We are at the beginning of a very big job, but we are making progress.”
— JEFF CROUSE

I can imagine such a tool being used by TV stations who don’t want to be seen endorsing specific products, or perhaps by producers who want to charge companies a fee to have their logos “unblocked.”

What else could it be used for? Maybe every instance of the BP logo could be replaced with something a little less green.

    is this real life?

  2. This might be really useful for student film makers who have to abide by strict copyright and TM rules.
Thanks Blair and David for sharing.

  3. This is pretty interesting. When Spider Man 1 came out, the filmmakers replaced all the logos on billboards in Times Square with digitally altered logos.

Sony was sued by the buildings owners which had the billboard contracts. And although Sony won, I can see how this type of technology would get others very upset.

“Several billboard and building owners, including Sherwood 48 Associates and Super Sign, filed suit in April against Sony and other companies involved in making and distributing “Spider-Man,” claiming their prime Times Square space becomes less valuable if they can’t guarantee customers exclusive rights both on and off screen. In the “Spider-Man” movie and trailers, ads for companies such as Cingular Wireless and USA Today have been superimposed over those of Samsung and NBC.”

That is pretty interesting. I never heard about Sony getting sued about this kind of thing.

Oh snap, you missed the HOLLISTER on that kid’s black t-shirt.

  6. Looks like Carl Sagan’s premonition called Adnix that removes ads from recorded programs (Contact‚ the book NOT the movie). This is a great idea and could be extended to remove offensive material and to protect children who appear in the background of movies without their parent’s consent.
    10 outa 10.
