This tweet led me to one of Iancu’s old posts that led me to an older one of Richard’s where the comment thread pointed me to this — Top symbols & trademarks of the world, edited by Franco Maria Ricci and Corinna Ferrari, published in 1973 by Milan-based Deco Press.
The title was released as a set of seven books.
With another four volumes published in the late seventies and early eighties.

Looks like a lovely collection, but seemingly long, long out of print.

My mother bought them for me in 1976. Considering their age, they are all in excellent condition, and they have been a great inspiration in my graphic designer career.

I’d love to own a set of these for inspiration but I imagine they’re very difficult to get hold of. I found a few similar examples over on Flickr.
They’re beautiful examples of strong design and another example of why it’s important to concentrate on structure and simplicity and create logos and symbols away from the influence of colour and modern trends.
